Macungie residents told to shelter in place, schools on lockdown during police incident - lehighvalleylive.com

Macungie residents are being told to shelter in place and a handful of schools are on limited lockdown as borough police and Pennsylvania State Police troopers respond to an incident Friday afternoon on Main Street.

Efforts to reach Macungie police Friday afternoon were unsuccessful.

Pennsylvania State Police from the Fogelsville barracks are assisting Macungie borough police with an incident, Trooper Nate Branosky said, but referred questions about the incident to borough police.

Residents who signed up for Lehigh County’s CodeRED notifications were told “due to a police incident, the Macungie Police Department is requesting a shelter in place until further notice.”

East Penn School district places Eyer Middle School, Macungie, Shoemaker, and Willow Lane elementary schools on limited external lockdown, which means students are not allowed outside of the building, district spokeswoman Laura Groh said.
