Wabash Takes Third Place At 2022 Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational - Wabash College

Sunday evening, the 2022 Gail Moll Pebworth Invitational wrapped its third and final day of competition at the Crawfordsville High School Aquatics Center. The host Wabash College swimming team finished third out of the ten teams competing.

Barret Smith placed fifth in the "A" final of the 200-yard backstroke by completing the race in 1:57.38. Marc Nicolson turned in a time of 2:03.63 to place 15th overall in the "B" final. Morgan Govekar finished in 2:08.69 in the "B" final to place 19th overall.

Jacob Penrose captured sixth place in the 1650 freestyle by finishing in 16:55.15. Eli Arnold scored a 15th-place finish in that event with a time of 18:08.21. Adam El-Khalili added an 18th-place finish with a time of 18:24.09.

Penrose added a ninth-place finish in the "A" final of the 200-yard butterfly by turning in a time of 1:59.99. 

Justice Wenz turned in a fifth-place performance in the "A" final of the 200 breaststroke, finishing in 2:11.30. Dane Market also swam in the "A" final and captured eighth place with a time of 2:15:89. Eddie DaMata scored a 12th-place finish in the "B" final with a time of 2:14.38. Jack Pendleton finished his "B" final race in 2:26.48 to capture 19th place.

Wenz swam to seventh place in the 100-yard individual medley by touching the wall in 55.48 in the "A" final. Nicolas Hakimian also added a tenth-place finish in the "A" final with a time of 57.37. 

Ethan Johns took seventh place in the "A" final of the 100 freestyle, finishing in 47.23. Caleb McCarty scored a ninth-place finish in the "A" final with a time of 47.49. Connor Craig competed in the "B" final, finishing in 49.28 to capture 19th place. John Allen finished in 20th place in the "B" final with a time of 49.63.

The Little Giants closed the meet Sunday evening by capturing fourth place in the 400-yard medley relay. Johns, Craig, Nicolson, and McCarty combined for a time of 3:09.09 in the last event of the three-day competition.

Wabash scored 1,683 points to capture third place in the team rankings. Birmingham-Southern College won the men's team title with 2,582 points. Centre College finished second with 1,995.5 points. Franklin College placed fourth overall with 1,673.5 points. Albion College earned fifth place with a score of 1,337. Quincy University (1,220 points), Asbury University (919 points), Manchester University (604 points), Austin College (289 points), and Midway University (229 points) completed the team scoring for the meet.
