Wrestling finishes competition at Lindenwood Open, trio of Knights place second - BU Athletics

SAINT CHARLES, Mo. – In its third road invitational in as many weekends, Bellarmine wrestling wrapped up competition at the Lindenwood Open on Saturday.

Ten Knights wrestlers competed, and three earned second place finishes among opponents from twenty-nine other teams.

"I'm again proud of my team for their fight," Knights Head Coach Ned Shuck said. "We keep learning and progressing. I'm excited for our home opener and excited to see everyone show up to pack Knights Hall on Nov. 30th. Go Knights!"

Freshman Shay Korhorn (133) went 3-1, with three victories by decision, on his way to second place. Sophomore Cole Nance (165) battled to a 4-1 record with a pair of pins, and ultimately earned second place in his weight class. Sophomore Jack Parker (125) also claimed second place after going 3-1 with a pair of major decision wins. Sophomore William Muckler (285) went 3-2 with a pin on his way to a fifth place finish. Another notable performance for the Knights came from Michael Schiffhauer (133), who lost his first bout but rattled off four straight wins in the consolation bracket for a 4-1 record.

The other wrestlers who competed for Bellarmine included Chase Hall (141), Luke LeClerc (165), Kennedy Wyatt (184), Easton Tobia (157), and Alex Rivera (165).

Bellarmine will next take the mat at home on Nov. 30^th, when the Knights battled Lindenwood in their first dual of the season. The action will begin at 7:00 p.m. at Knights Hall.
