Dutchwomen Race to a 6th Place Finish at Middlebury Winterfell - Union College Athletics

MIDDLEBURY, Vt.

– The Union College women's track and field team competed at the Middlebury Winterfell meet. Union raced against a variety of teams and placed sixth, with 17 points, out of nine teams, Saturday afternoon at the New Balance Foundation Track/Virtue Field House.

First-year Catherine Dacey posted the top result of the day for the Dutchwomen, taking second place in the 800m with a time of 2:31.14. Sophomore Alayna Gibson also scored for Union in the event, clocking in at 2:34.34 to place eighth.  

Sophomore Caroline Stanton had another of the team's top individual finishes on the day, finishing the 600m in 1:46.64 to place eighth. She also finished 15th in the 200m dash with a time of 28.76.

First-year Marley Froe had a good showing in the 60m dash, clocking a 8.64 in the finals to place eighth after running a 8.50 in the prelims.

The 4x400 relay team of Stanton, Gibson, Froe and first-year Yurami Van Eer posted a sixth-place finish, finishing with a time of 4:32.08.
   
In the field events, senior Steph Heiberger and junior  Denesha Lafontant finished 11th and 12, respectively, in the long jump with top distances of 4.33m and 4.31m.

The Dutchwomen are back in action next week, January 29, when they return to Middlebury, V.T. for the Middlebury Invitational. Races and flights begin at 11 a.m.
