The Roswell and Goddard high school wrestling teams recently attended the Sierra Blanca Invite in Ruidoso.
The Coyotes placed second in team scores while Goddard placed fourth. First place went to Ruidoso with a total score of 144.5.
“I’m really proud of my team for winning some hardware,” Coyotes head coach Jesse Boggs said after the tournament.
Roswell’s Amarante Marrujo (120), Jerry Romero (126) and Kelvin Alarcon (182) placed first in their respective weight classes. Nathaniel Lujan (113), Connyr Nichols (132) and Moises Rodriguez (195) placed second.
Coyotes Luis Tejeda (170), Jamie Nevarez (182) and Raymond Gonzales (285) all placed third.

Aidan Werts (170) placed first for Goddard, while Pablo Zaragosa (182) placed second.
Samuel Archuleta (138), Garrett Langley (145), Logan Martinez (152) and Rodney Ward (220) all placed third on the podium for the Rockets.
“Everyone had to overcome a tough match to place,” Goddard assistant wrestling coach Eathyn Griffin said. “It’s reassuring and fulfilling to see them succeed at all the stuff they’re striving to achieve this year.”
Goddard will be competing at Socorro High School on Wednesday night.
