Police search for armed robbery suspect Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood - KOIN.com

Powell Boulevard has been closed to all traffic until further notice.

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – Residents in the Powellhurst-Gilbert neighborhood were told to shelter-in-place Thursday night while police searched for an armed suspect in the area, officials say.

Portland police responded to an armed robbery at a smoke shop in the 12300 block of Southeast Powell Boulevard around 5 p.m. and discovered the suspect had already left without causing any injuries.

Officers searched the perimeter of Southeast Powell Boulevard through Kelly Street and Southeast 122nd Avenue through 124th Avenue for the suspect, who they believe still had a gun.

Officials say the man jumped into a stolen car that eventually crashed on 122nd Avenue, were he ran away in the neighborhood. The shelter-in-place was eventually cancelled, though police say no suspects have been arrested.

Anyone with information about either incident can email crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference Case No. 24-19292.
